Ball Brothers Foundation Announces Recent Grants
Nearly $1.4 million granted to local, regional, and state organizations
Muncie, Indiana – Ball Brothers Foundation announced today that its board recently approved grants to several organizations throughout Indiana during its May meeting. The majority of the grants will be distributed to organizations for local efforts while a select few grants were directed to groups with efforts outside the East Central Indiana region.
The recipient nonprofits are: Cardinal Greenways ($150,000), Indiana Council for Economic Education ($10,000), Indiana Youth Institute ($155,000), BSU Fisher Institute for Wellness and Gerontology ($75,000), Boy Scouts of America ($100,000), College Mentors for Kids ($30,000), Community Foundation of Grant County ($115,000), Gateway Association ($41,000), Minnetrista for the Living Lightly Fair ($4,500), Motivate Our Minds ($150,000), Prevent Blindness Indiana ($20,000), Riley Hospital Foundation ($400,000), TEAMWork for Quality Living ($25,000), City of Winchester (pending match up to $50,000).
Other organizations approved for grants prior to the May board meeting through separate Foundation grant programs include: Back to School Teacher’s Store ($4,300), Head Start Action, Inc. ($5,000), Motivate Our Minds ($2,850), Muncie Community Schools ($2,359), Muncie Optimist Club ($5,000), Muncie Parks Department ($5,000), United Day Care Center ($5,000), The Unity Center ($4,007), Yorktown High School ($3,535), Youth Opportunity Center ($5,000), Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County ($15,000), Energize – ECI ($100,000).
Ball Brothers Foundation also announced its second cycle dates for 2008 as July 15 for letters of inquiry, and September 1 as the deadline for general grants. Ball Brothers executive director Jud Fisher stated that education related proposals will be actively sought out. “Our Cycle II grants will be decidedly aimed at education. We have other distinct areas of giving, but we would like to see an effort made by organizations to emulate the Community Foundation of Grant County’s recent successful proposal,” said Fisher. “We’ll be especially interested in one to three centralized proposals connected to the Twenty-first Century Scholar Program.”
The Community Foundation of Grant County received an award for its “Project Blueprint” proposal. “Project Blueprint” ensures that students have a plan for higher education, assists them in a career path, and requires a presentation from graduating seniors while also improving recruitment for Twenty-first Century Scholar participants.
