BBF Announces Hiring of Executive Assistant & Communications Coordinator

MUNCIE, Ind.—Ball Brothers Foundation is pleased to announce that the position of Executive Assistant & Communications Coordinator has been filled by Michelle Stephenson. Stephenson will bring nearly twenty years of experience in administrative support, financial management, and office coordination to BBF when she begins on June 11.

Michelle’s primary responsibilities as Executive Assistant include serving as the initial point of contact for all inquiries to the foundation and supporting BBF’s staff and board. Michelle will schedule meetings and manage the calendars of BBF staff, provide clerical and administrative assistance, and manage the daily operations of the office. She also will fill the role of Communications Coordinator, assisting with internal and external materials including newsletters, press releases, and social media. Finally, Michelle will provide back-up support for BBF’s grant management system which is overseen by newly promoted Program Officer/Grants Manager, Donna Munchel.

Michelle brings a wealth of experience to BBF. She has served in various capacities at the Ball State University Foundation and Ball State University Alumni Center since 2006. Her roles have included coordinating volunteer programs, managing property, supporting financial executives, and assisting fundraising professionals. Prior to her time at Ball State University Foundation and the Alumni Center, Michelle served as a loan officer and branch manager for Pacesetter Bank.

“I am excited to join Ball Brothers Foundation and support the team in their work within Muncie, Delaware County, and East Central Indiana.  The opportunity to work for Ball Brothers Foundation appealed to me because of their approach in engaging with and supporting communities to improve quality of life through traditional values, collaborative partnerships, and an innovative perspective for the future.  I look forward to embracing this opportunity with passion and commitment to the team and to the legacy of Ball Brothers Foundation,” commented Stephenson. Michelle, her husband, and her children are long-time residents of the Muncie community.

In reflecting on BBF’s new hire, president and chief operating officer Jud Fisher stated, “Our board and staff are pleased to welcome Michelle to the Ball Brothers Foundation team. Over the past several years, we have taken on a much larger role in convening meetings with community partners, we have ramped up the way we strategically communicate the work of BBF to increase the visibility of our grantees, and we have made important enhancements to our internal operations. This is all in addition to increasing the amount of money we award via grants to the community. It was time for us to grow our staff to accommodate this work and to continue to increase our effectiveness.”

Stephenson joins a small team of full-time professionals including Jud Fisher (President & COO), Rich Spisak (Senior Program Officer), Jenna Wachtmann (Program Officer), and Donna Munchel (Program Officer & Grants Manager). These professional staff members provide support to BBF’s thirteen member board which annually makes grants totaling approximately $7 million. Grants are made in support of arts and culture, education, the environment, health, human services and public affairs with priority given to projects and programs that enhance the quality of life in Muncie, Delaware County and East Central Indiana.
