Fisher Governance Award Presented at Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner

MUNCIE, Ind.— Ball Brothers Foundation has selected Pat Botts, board treasurer of Greater Muncie, IN Habitat for Humanity, as the 2014 winner of the John W. and Janice B. Fisher Governance Award. The award, which recognizes the outstanding service of a board member to a Delaware County nonprofit organization, was presented at the Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner on October 30.

Botts joined the Habitat for Humanity board in 2002 and has served as an important resource to the organization, walking alongside staff in navigating new mortgage and lending regulations that resulted from the housing and foreclosure crisis. He has helped the organization explore new and creative solutions to securing funding by providing leadership for the launch of Habitat’s ReStore retail operation and by assisting Muncie Habitat in implementing a program to generate capital funding using a portion of the organization’s loan portfolio. Botts has also been an enthusiastic participant in the development of three strategic plans for the organization, including Habitat’s 2008-2013 plan which boldly put forth the challenge for Habitat to double its impact in the community over a five year period.

“Ball Brothers Foundation is pleased to recognize Pat Botts for his leadership as a board member, volunteer, and donor. Delaware County’s nonprofit organizations are greatly strengthened by the expertise that board members like Pat provide. This award gives us a chance to recognize board members who really are unsung heroes in our community,” said Jud Fisher, President & COO of Ball Brothers Foundation. In recognition of Botts’ leadership and outstanding commitment, Botts was presented a handcrafted glass award crafted by Brent Cole of the Glick Center for Glass at Ball State University during the Chamber dinner. Greater Muncie, IN Habitat for Humanity will also receive an award of $10,000 in Botts’ name.

The Governance Award honors the memory of Delaware County philanthropists John W. and Janice B. Fisher. Mr. Fisher (1915-2009) brought strong and compassionate leadership to Ball Brothers Foundation during his decade of service as president and chairman. Mrs. Fisher (1916-2010), daughter of industrialist-philanthropist Edmund Burke Ball, shared her husband’s enthusiasm for their community and was a strong advocate for issues related to education and wellness.
