Celebrating the White River, Canoe Race

Last month, we celebrated the release of the new White River Report Card, an assessment tool that "grades" various factors of the river's health. To mark this occasion, BBF team members, Susan Brumley and Jenna Wachtmann, joined forces and took part in the White River Alliance's canoe race from Yorktown to Daleville.

Additionally, we spent an inspiring morning along the White River at Newfields in Indianapolis exploring the Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park: 100 Acres. The visit was part of an Indiana Philanthropy Alliance event, focused on recognizing the White River's potential as a recreational destination and a catalyst for economic development.

Special thanks to friends from Red-tail Land Conservancy, Delaware County Soil & Water Conservation District, Delaware County Economic Development, Muncie-Delaware County Visitors Bureau, The Nature Conservancy in Indiana, East Central Indiana Regional Partnership, the Community Foundation of Randolph County, and the Muncie Bureau of Water Quality who joined us in Indianapolis to connect with each other and the folks downriver from us!

Op-Ed: White River Report Card Results

Following last month's release of the new White River Report Card, BallBrothers Foundation's Jud Fisher joined other contributors in discussing the results and next steps in an op-ed.

The report card results reveal both progress and challenges related to the river and its watershed with an overall grade of a "C."

Nominate Soon: Fisher Governance Award Deadline Nearing

The deadline for nominations for the John W. and Janice B. Fisher Governance Award is quickly approaching. This esteemed award highlights the vital role board members play in strategic planning, financial oversight, and ensuring the effectiveness of their organizations.

Delaware County nonprofit organizations have until August 15 to nominate a board member for this award, which includes a $10,000 grant for the recipient's organization.
