Grantee Spotlight: ecoREHAB Transforming Communities

In the heart of Muncie, ecoREHAB is reshaping neighborhoods through sustainable design and construction trades training. Founded 15 years ago, ecoREHAB revitalizes abandoned homes while preparing the workforce for in-demand construction jobs.

Learn more about ecoREHAB’s recent acquisition of its own new home ("The Yard") and how the organization is planning to continue building hope, and homes, in our community.

ECI Tornado Response

For many years, BBF has supported disaster response efforts across the state following major tornadoes and other natural disasters. Through our Emergency Management grantmaking initiative, the foundation has also worked to provide specialized training and equipment to local agencies to prepare for large scale disasters.

On March 14, the response needs hit close to home with a tornado impacting both Delaware and Randolph counties.

BBF quickly reached out to our networks of first responders to offer support. To date, BBF has awarded $15,000 for local emergency efforts in response to the March 15 events.

We will continue to monitor needs and are grateful to all who have stepped up to support the storm response.

Talking K-12 Grant Funding

Last week, BBF's President and CEO was a guest on Steve Lindell's 765 Business Journal Radio Show. During the show, Jud reflected on the foundation’s past decade of support for K-12 public schools in the heart of Muncie. With $5M+ in total funding awarded to Muncie Community Schools and Burris Laboratory School since 2014, Fisher explains the foundation’s support for the “margins of excellence.”

ICYMI: Day in the Life

Wonder what we do in a typical day? Last week we featured a "Day in the Life" on our Instagram. It was a busy one, filled with adventures to Muncie sites, grantee visits, a bit of hiking, and more.

BBF's grantmaking is relationship-centered. We love to meet with grantees and community partners outside the office and sometimes at record speeds. Check it out!

BBF Board Marks Milestone, Tours School

At our February board meeting, Ball Brothers Foundation celebrated a decade of support for public schools in Muncie's central city. With over $5 million in grants to Muncie Community Schools and Burris Laboratory School, we took a look back at where we've been and what's ahead.

During our meeting, BBF's board heard from a panel of guest speakersand had the opportunity to visit West View Elementary School to see first-hand the dual language/Spanish immersion program which BBF helped to provide early seed funding to begin years ago.
