Grantee Spotlight: Q&A with East Central Indiana Regional Partnership

Get to know Trevor Friedeberg, President/CEO of East Central Indiana Regional Partnership, in our latest grantee Q&A.

Trevor is helping to lead East Central Indiana’s pursuit of up to $75 million in state funding through the READI program. The program is designed to infuse regions with funding that will help to attract and retain talent.

“The number one thing that continues to strike me are the people of East Central Indiana. When I first came here, coming from another state, it was expected to be a difficult transition, but the Hoosier Hospitality I have felt from day one is truly remarkable and something I had never experienced before. I have felt embraced, like one of the herd, from day one.” – Trevor Friedeberg

BBF Awards Grants to Empower Regional Planning

Like many Midwestern communities, Muncie and East Central Indiana have been greatly impacted by changing economic forces over the past several decades. And while changes in the global economy have undoubtedly impacted this area, significant efforts are underway to plan for the region’s bright future.

In cooperation with local economic development organizations, K-12 and higher education institutions, business leaders, elected officials, and others, Ball Brothers Foundation’s grantee East Central Indiana Regional Partnership is helping to coordinate a major regional planning effort focused on talent attraction and retention.

Throughout the summer and fall, funding from Ball Brothers Foundation has bolstered various efforts to assist the region's LEDOs (Local Economic Development Organizations) in supporting the planning process, has supported regional universities in engaging in planning, and more.

Exploring Local Key Projects: Tour with Indiana DNR

This fall, Ball Brothers Foundation had the pleasure of hosting Director Dan Bortner and Deputy Director Chris Smith from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for a day long tour of key projects in Muncie and East Central Indiana.

During the tour, our BBF staff had the opportunity to discuss co-funded projects that fall under our environmental giving interest areas dedicated to:

  • Preserving and protecting land

  • Creating opportunities for children to engage with nature

  • Reclaiming and restoring local waterways

  • Promoting conservation practices among the region’s farmers and landowners

Discover what projects are transforming the landscape of our community in our tour with DNR.
