BBF grant to support MAP implementation

Muncie, Ind.—The Muncie Action Plan II (MAP) received a boost from Ball Brothers Foundation today in the form of a $22,000 grant earmarked for MAP’s implementation. This is the second BBF grant this year to support the phasing in of the city’s comprehensive strategic plan. The foundation announced an earlier award of $5,000 to MAP in July.

“MAP’s initiatives—particularly those dealing with education, health and neighborhood development—clearly reflect our priorities,” said Jud Fisher, president and chief operating officer of the foundation. “In fact, several grants in our recent cycle are directly or indirectly linked to MAP’s goals and objectives.” As examples, he cited a $75,000 grant to Habitat for Humanity for its revitalization project, $15,000 in funds for Buley Center programs and a $26,000 grant to Ivy Tech for its language arts initiative. “We see these connecting seamlessly with the strategies outlined in MAP,” added Fisher.

The 25 local, regional and state nonprofit organizations that will share in BBF’s second-cycle grant awards include: Community Enhancement Projects, Inc., $45,000; Indiana Historical Society, $15,000; McMillen Center for Health Education, $10,000; Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana, $30,000; The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, $3,000; Ball State University, $20,000 and $1,000; city of Muncie, $10,000; Energize-ECI, Inc., $100,000; Greater Muncie Habitat for Humanity, $75,000; Independent Colleges of Indiana, Inc., $80,000; Muncie Action Plan, $22,000 and $5,000.
