Fisher Governance Award Winner Selected

Ball Brothers Foundation has selected Teresa Willman, board president of Cardinal Greenway, Inc., as the first recipient of the John W. and Janice B. Fisher Governance Award. The award, given annually, recognizes the outstanding service of a board member to a Delaware County nonprofit organization.

Teresa joined the Cardinal Greenway board in 2002 and immediately went to work streamlining and strengthening the Greenway’s accounting and budgetary practices. She was also an energetic force in drafting the Greenway’s first strategic plan and is currently working with the staff and board to introduce the new ‘Learning on the Trail’ program that encourages classrooms, youth clubs, after school organizations and individual families to participate in healthy activities along the Cardinal Greenway trail. Teresa’s exemplary leadership continues to set the progressive pace of this visionary and strong community asset.

The Governance Award honors the memory of Delaware County philanthropists John W. and Janice B. Fisher. Mr. Fisher (1915-2009) brought strong and compassionate leadership to Ball Brothers Foundation in his decade of service as president and chairman. Mrs. Fisher (1916-2010), daughter of industrialist-philanthropist Edmund Burke Ball, shared her husband’s enthusiasm for their commuhnity and was a strong advocate for issues realted to education and wellness.

Teresa was presented a handcrafted glass award crafted by Brent Cole of the Glick Center for Glass at Ball State University during the recent Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner. Cardinal Greenway, Inc. will also receive an award of $10,000 in Teresa’s name.
