March 2025: New Conservation Fund, New Board Member, Sagamore of the Wabash, and more
A New Fund Keeping Our Outdoors Clean & Green
Clean water, healthy land, and thriving outdoor spaces need care and investment. That’s why BBF recently awarded a grant of $75,000 to support the launch of The Community Foundation of Muncie & Delaware County’s Environmental Impact Fund.
Designed to support conservation projects—like improving water quality and expanding recreation amenities—this fund ensures a lasting investment in the natural resources that make our community special for future generations to enjoy.
BBF Welcomes New Board Member
As the foundation enters its 99th year, BBF is proud to welcome Chris Fisher, a fourth-generation Ball family member, to its board of directors.
With a passion for education, recreation, and community development, Chris is excited to help carry forward the foundation’s legacy of philanthropy in Muncie and East Central Indiana.
Jud Fisher Honored with Sagamore of the Wabash
Ball Brothers Foundation's President & CEO, Jud Fisher, was recently awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash Award—one of Indiana’s highest honors.
Presented by former Governor Eric Holcomb, the award recognizes Fisher’s leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, his commitment to public health, and the foundation’s long-standing impact on improving quality of life in the state.
Nominate an Outstanding Board Member
The John W. and Janice B. Fisher Governance Award celebrates nonprofit board members who demonstrate exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and commitment to their organization’s mission. Nominations are open through August 15.

Cyber defenders in training: We visited BSU's new Cardinal Academy of Digital Security and Education to see how Project Sybertooth funding is preparing interns for careers in cybersecurity.
A new chapter for the Y: It's been an exciting month as the new downtown Muncie YMCA is open. BBF supported the project with grants totaling $2 million.
Taste of Muncie's Best: During our recent board meeting, we enjoyed a student-prepared dinner at Ball State's Allegre restaurant, complete with live jazz from talented student musicians.
Sharing ideas: BBF's Susan Brumely hosted a professional cohort with fellow foundations to exchange best practices in communications and convening.
