Among those who paid tribute to the legacy of the Ball family at the 9th annual Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce’s Legacy Gala was Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb. The event, held at Horizon Convention Center also included speakers James A. Fisher, Chairman & CEO of Ball Brothers Foundation; Geoffrey Mearns, Ball State University’s President; Dr. Jeffrey Bird, President & CEO of IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital; and Stephanie Duckmann, great-granddaughter of Edmund B. Ball and a member of Ball Brothers Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Over $250,000 in Grants Awarded to Support the “Future of Work” at Downtown Muncie’s MadJax

BBF Grants to Bolster Muncie Community Schools
Following the historic announcement earlier this year that Ball State University would take a leadership role in helping to transform Muncie Community Schools, BBF has awarded a $1 million grant to assist with these efforts. Leigh Edwards Presented with Fisher Governance Award during Chamber of Commerce Dinner
Leigh Edwards, president of Muncie Civic Theatre’s board of directors, has been selected as the 2018 winner of the John W. and Janice B. Fisher Governance Award. The award, which recognizes the outstanding service of a board member to a Delaware County nonprofit organization, was presented at the Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner on October 25.

The honor includes a $15,000 grant to support the school district, high school, and teacher’s classroom.

BBF appoints Donna Munchel as program officer
Ball Brothers Foundation has expanded its programming staff and appointed Donna Munchel to the dual position of program officer and grants manager. Effective immediately, Munchel joins colleagues Jenna Wachtmann and senior program officer Rich Spisak in managing all facets of BBF’s grant-making process.

BBF Announces Funding Opportunities for Local School Districts
Ball Brothers Foundation has invited eight school districts in Delaware County to apply for special funding in 2018 to make school-wide and district-wide improvements and innovations. The funding invitation is an expansion of grants made over the past several years to Muncie Community Schools and Burris Laboratory School.

A grant totaling $160,000 to Purdue University was among the $3,656,341 in total grants the foundation awarded at its October board meeting. Ball Brothers Foundation approved awards to 17 organizations in its latest round of grants.

Included in the honor is a $10,000 grant to the organization that the recognized board member represents.

Ball Brothers Foundation Grants Expand Opportunities for Children and Families
A summer concert series, children’s bicycle safety program, an art immersion experience, and two outdoors-oriented summer programs all received support through Ball Brothers Foundation Rapid Grants. Over $100,000 has been distributed to local organizations since February through the grantmaking program.
