BBF’s Rich Spisak Honored with “Spirit of Muncie Award”

BBF’s Rich Spisak was announced today as the Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce’s 2020 “Spirit of Muncie” award winner. The award was presented during the Chamber’s annual “Chamber Champions” lunch held at Horizon Convention Center.

Rich was recognized for his dedicated service to the community and to the Chamber of Commerce. A native of Ohio, Rich joined the staff of Ball Brothers Foundation in 2008 after working for several years in development at Ball State University where he played a leading role in establishing a corporate giving program and assisting with groundbreaking capital campaigns. Prior to this, Rich also had an extensive career as a collegiate football coach, with stints at the University of Colorado at Boulder, New Mexico State, and Miami University of Ohio. His coaching career also brought him to Muncie where he served under multiple head coaches at Ball State University for a combined total of 18 years.

In the years since, Rich has become a local “voice” of high school and college football. His experience as a coach prepared him to begin broadcasting for Muncie Southside and Central high school football games. In 2014, Rich became the “color” voice of Ball State University football broadcasting and has continued to serve in this capacity ever since.

Rich’s community involvement is varied beyond the broadcasting box. He served as a board member of the Chamber of Commerce from 2013 to 2016 and has continued to engage with the Chamber via its Business Education Partnership group. He has mentored several high school students via Project Leadership, and has also been actively involved in search committees that have brought talented leaders to both the YMCA of Muncie and the Boys and Girls Club of Muncie in the past several years.

As Senior Program Officer at Ball Brothers Foundation, Rich’s responsibilities include researching program areas, reviewing grant requests, conducting site visits, and tracking grant results.
