COLLEGE MENTORS FOR KIDS INSPIRE AWARD NOMINATIONS SOUGHT
Ball Brothers Foundation grantee College Mentors for Kids is now accepting nominations for the 2nd Annual Inspire Awards. The Inspire Awards celebrate the efforts of seven individuals and one organization for mentoring, which have inspired excellence in the workplace or the community.
BBF grant to support MAP implementation
The Muncie Action Plan II (MAP) received a boost from Ball Brothers Foundation today in the form of a $22,000 grant earmarked for MAP’s implementation. This is the second BBF grant this year to support the phasing in of the city’s comprehensive strategic plan.

Ruth Crocker’s biography about Olivia Sage is an examination of the subject’s life, a woman’s place in the world around the start of the twentieth century, charity and philanthropy. The book reviews Sage’s life stages and interests while allowing a look at the complex recipes that form her charitable and philanthropic endeavors.
Ball Brothers Foundation Announces Release of 2010 Grant Guidelines
Ball Brothers Foundation has announced the release of its latest Grant Guidelines. The new guidelines, available at www.ballfdn.org, will be utilized for the 2010 granting cycles.
2009 Annual Report
The research is compelling. Too many children are entering school without the preparation they need to succeed. Experts call it a “readiness gap” and warn that it can lead to an achievement gap that widens in middle school and causes students to drop out short of graduation. Two years ago Ball Brothers Foundation made a strategic decision to support efforts to narrow the readiness gap in Delaware County. In this year’s annual report we offer an update on five programs—recipients of BBF grants—that are making progress toward establishing East Central Indiana as a center of excellence for early childhood education.
Indiana Loses Businessman and Philanthropist John W. Fisher
Ball Brothers Foundation announced today that John W. Fisher, 93, died on Sunday morning, June 28, 2009, after battling leukemia. Fisher guided many organizations over the years, including Ball Brothers Foundation for the last decade as its chairman and president.

2008 Annual Report
This year’s annual report demonstrates that efforts on behalf of the environment are as important today as they were 80 years ago.On these pages you will read feature stories that focus on current initiatives that will conserve energy, educate students about Indiana’s natural resources, update agricultural practices, and provide families with green spaces where they can relax and rejuvenate. All of these projects are part of a strategy that dates back to the Foundation’s beginning—to promote an understanding of the tangible benefits of caring for the environment and immersing oneself in nature.

Spisak to Join Ball Brothers Foundation Staff
Rich Spisak, senior development officer at Ball State University and a long-time Muncie resident, will join the staff at Ball Brothers Foundation effective Feb. 11. Spisak’s appointment culminates a statewide search, according to Jud Fisher, executive director and chief operating officer of the 82-year-old private foundation.

This year we have made grant awards to organizations that report positive results as they prepare students to succeed in school at every level. Our expectation is that grantees will use our funds as leverage to grow their programs and expand their financial base. Because of the enormity of the challenge, we are identifying partners who share our vision to make education more accessible and success more attainable for Indiana students. In this 2007 annual report you’ll read about five diverse BBF grantees whose efforts are having an impact on Hoosier youth. IU CENTER ON PHILANTHROPY RELEASES NEW REPORT
The IU Center on Philanthropy has released a new report, Nonprofit Capacity Assessment: Indiana Charities, 2007, based on a survey recently completed for the Indiana Grantmakers Alliance (IGA) in collaboration with Lumina Foundation for Education (LFE), the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, and IU’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
